  • The Cheer Exploration Program for Toddlers follows the ‘Dance to Learn!’® Curriculum and Methods. ‘Dance to Learn!’® is a valuable addition to any early head start, preschool, day care or recreational center. Our 5 Methods Performance Arts™ are designed to teach the whole child at all stages of their development. Cheer Exploration classes build critical and creative thinking skills, enhance creative expression and introduce social-emotional skills such as patience, waiting turns and sharing. ‘Dance to Learn!’® Program goals and outcomes align with the Head Start School Readiness Goals for Preschool Children as well as state and national standards for Yoga Education.

    Classes are structured for success! Class Flow in the Cheer Exploration Toddler Program is choreographed to follow the natural progressions of a child’s movement and learning abilities to ensure mastery of class objectives and Cheerleading studies. Cheer Exploration classes brighten a child’s school day by waking the brain and body up with lively, and educational Poms and Cheer classes. Class is led by a passionate and Certified ‘Dance to Learn!’® Educator who cares about nurturing the success of each student at every turn.

    The learning does not stop in the classroom. The ‘Dance to Learn!’® at Home with Me™ Program is included in all classes. It stresses the important role parents and care givers play in the academic success of their children.

  • Toddler Program Objectives

    Objective 1: Gross Motor Development

    Students at the end of the session should be able to complete simple locomotor and non-locomotor cheer and dance movements. Students should also be able to grasp and manipulate objects such as pom poms, batons and ribbon sticks. Students will also show and improvement in balance, posture and coordination.

    Objective 2: Teamwork

    Toddlers in the Cheer Exploration program will learn the simple structure of a poms or cheer squad and their different roles.

    Objective 3: Memorization

    Students in the Toddler Cheer Exploration Program will improve their memory and and ability to memorize as they learn easy to remember rhymes that they can easily turn into a fun cheer routine. The Cheer Exploration program will help toddlers enhance focus, concentration, comprehension and memory.

    Objective 4: Association

    The Cheer Exploration Program teaches Toddlers easy to follow cheers and chants based on popular nursery rhymes and songs they are familiar with. Through these fun and interactive play-based cheers and chants, students will learn to associate the different cheers and chants with popular animals, objects and scenes. This will help students associate and remember different characteristics and aspects of the animals and objects involved in the chants and rhymes.

    Objective 5: Cognitive Development

    The Toddler Cheer Exploration program, follows the Dance to Learn® Curriculum, a conceptual and theme, play-based curriculum. Students will learn several different cognitive concepts including space, tempo, numbers, colors, levels, and sizes, all through fun Cheerleading activities and exploration.

    Objective 6: Emotional Development

    Cheer Exploration classes improve a child’s emotional development by improving self-confidence and self-control of emotions and feelings.

    Objective 7: Social Development

    Cheer Exploration classes teach toddlers the value of team work and working in a Pep Squad. Students will learn value lessons on sharing, waiting turns and working with their peers.

    Objective 8: Knowledge Retention

    Parents who are involved in the Dance Exploration ‘Dance to Learn!’® at Home with Me™ Program should see a difference in their child develop and grow with the suggested at home ‘Dance to Learn!’® Activities. This program helps students in our Cheer Exploration program develop the ability to tie-in the concepts learned to daily life in and out of the classroom.
